Community Meals
St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Monthly Community Dinner
With the rising costs of daily expenses, many are struggling with making a nutritious family meal. Hunger isn't just about an empty stomach. It affects us in many ways. Children don’t learn as well in school, we’re distracted by the constant worry, and we sometimes feel alone in this struggle. Often, when life is challenging, people can feel at a loss and overwhelmed, and the world can feel a bit cold.
At St. Andrews Episcopal Church, we believe there’s nothing more powerful than a warm meal and a friendly "hello." Our monthly community dinner is rooted in the simple idea that nobody in our community should have to go to bed hungry or feel like they’re facing life’s hurdles alone. By nourishing bodies and lifting spirits, we strengthen community bonds and offer a welcoming space for all, helping to combat hunger and loneliness one dinner at a time.
Our monthly community dinner is about more than offering meals. It is the living embodiment of our mission through Jesus Christ of “Open Hearts, Helping Hands.” Our mission started in 2025 with the goal of helping to ease the burdens of those in our community affected by insecurities in health, home, and companionship. In the last quarter of 2025, St. Andrew’s served approximately 300 meals to individuals and families in Hart and Elbert Counties. In addition, the group supports over 20 community ministries, further helping to end hunger.
As our monthly community meal has grown through word of mouth, we have also begun offering meal kits ensuring that families have an additional meal. Through this simple gift of a meal, we help to inspire and give someone renewed hope. This hope has a ripple effect, encouraging people to help other community members, with neighbor helping neighbor.
Whether you’re struggling to make ends meet, navigating a tough situation, or just haven't had a home cooked meal in a while, join us for our next monthly community dinner. Our doors are open every third Thursday of the month starting from 5:00pm.
All are welcome to dine in or to pick up a meal to-go. Please join us at 579 Fairview St, Hartwell, GA 30643.
