Outreach
St. Andrew’s believes that outreach — reaching out into the community — is part of what it means to follow Jesus.
Poverty and Social Justice
The St. Andrew’s Outreach Committee contributes funds for projects that affect poverty and social issues in our local community, as well as national and international Diocesan concerns. We regularly support the local clothes closet, the local shelter for domestic violence victims, the humane society, and the local food bank. We also offer larger annual gifts in the form of grants to local ministries who work to feed and serve the local community.
If you would like to help, you can give money (write checks to the church and specify “Outreach” on the memo line), and you can serve on this committee and prayerfully consider all needs in our community.
Hart Interdenominational Ministry
Hart Interdenominational Ministry (HIM) seeks to provide tools to help people become self-sufficient. HIM’s mission is to connect people in need with churches and social agencies that will provide the appropriate help, support, and education that will meet the present need and enable them to address the root causes of their personal, social, and economic problems.
Events
Hart County Pride Festival
The 4th Annual Hart County Pride Festival, held on April 13, 2024, at Railroad St Park, opened in prayer led by Father Reid and Grant Myerholtz, Pastor at Mt. Hebron of Hartwell. There were about a dozen St. Andrew‘s parishioners among the dozens of attendees. In addition to celebrating Pride, the event collected a trunk load of food and raised $1,000 for the Hart County Food Pantry.
Read Across America Day
Read Across America Day took place March 1, 2024, at the Hartwell elementary schools, and volunteers from St. Andrew’s helped students select their free book.
